UTAH ASHRAE - March Chapter meeting

11:45: Check-in
12:00 - 1:30: Lunch and Lunch Presentation (1.0 PDH)

Presenter: Kaveh Someah

Kaveh Someah, President of Phoenix Rising Consulting, is a Chemical Engineer graduate from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kaveh has spent his over 30 years of professional career in water and wastewater treatment as well as the design and operation of heat transfer related equipment. Kaveh has spent his career at major companies such as WSA Engineered Systems, Brackett Green, and Ovivo ( formerly known as Eimco Water Technology), serving global customers in HVAC, O&G, and power generation sectors with solutions in areas of water & wastewater physical, chemical, and biological treatment, raw water filtration, as well as improving efficiency and performance of heat transfer related equipment such as shell & tube and plate & frame heat exchanger/condenser.

Topic: Reducing facility and plant operating and maintenance cost by eliminating fouling and scaling of the shell & tube, plate & frame heat exchangers/condensers.

Fouling & scaling of heat exchanger/condenser increases KW/Ton consumption of a chiller facility and energy consumption of an industrial plant. The traditional practice has been to shut the system down and clean the heat exchanger manually. The presentation describes how an On-Line Mechanical Automatic Cleaning System can eliminate fouling and scaling while the exchanger remains on-line and in full operation. The presentation will discuss how using such systems results in increased facility efficiency and availability, while reducing energy consumption and the plant’s O&M cost.
